FEBRUARY 20TH IS LOVE YOUR PET DAY!

HEY GUYS! 🐾

Today is "Love Your Pet Day"..... yeah!!! To celebrate, my Mom says that you should go out and get your furry friend, a new toy, or special treat, or just stop what you are doing and spend some time playing with them! When my Mom listens to music and she hears one of her crazy favorite songs, she sings and dances with us! I bet she'll do that today, not to mention maybe a special treat? Get the hint...Mom! Anyways my Mom wrote this poem in honor of this wonderful day for me and Ciena.

DOGGIE PLAY TIME

My love for my dogs is beyond measure,
For you see these two are truly my treasure.

They love and comfort me day in and day out,
I would be lost without them for there is no doubt.

Their crazy ways make me grin,
It’s time for fun when their antics begin.

Bring on the music they seem to say,
For you know it’s time for all of us to play.

They love to dance with me as they wiggle their butts,
I am grateful that these two silly dogs are really my mutts!

And sometimes we roll around and wrestle on the floor,
Now who could ask for anything more.

And when we are tired and when we stop,
It’s only because we are ready to drop.

I cherish each moment when we have time to play,
For such fun as this should happen every day.

You see each day is a blessing from above,
For my dogs lift my spirits every day with their love.

So have a great day with those who love you and remember till next time, it's paws up and high five!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CIENA GIRL!!!!!!!!

HEY GUYS!🐾

Today is my little sister, Ciena's, birthday and she is six years old. I bet you couldn't tell by her picture....Ha!

In celebration of her birthday, Mom and Dad gave us a special treat "Frosty Paws" and sang happy birthday to the girl!!!!!

Even though I made that goofy face to make her laugh, it didn't work. She said she doesn't want people to know that she's an old lady and I said that she's just fine! Oh well, she'll get over it, cause she is beautiful and my baby sister! Anyways.... a good time was had by all!!!

Till next time, it's paws up and high five!!!!

THEY PUT ME ON A DIET AGAIN!!!!!

       HEY GUYS!🐾

My Dad took me to my Vet's office this past Monday for my annual check-up, my shots and my heartworm blood work (ouch)!!! The Vet also checked the lump on my side (they aspirated it last year and tested it and thank God it was not cancerous), but he keeps an eye on it. He told my Dad that it was ok, just fat! Then he checked a new bump that just popped up on my nose and he wasn't concerned, but said to my Dad to watch it because if it gets too big they can do surgery and remove it. Then he had the nerve to tell my Dad that us Labs get weird bumps all the time and they are not usually harmful! The Vet said that I would have to go to sleep for the procedure and they could clean my teeth at the same time because they need it! OMG!!!! The Vet told my Dad that my teeth should be brushed and Dad replied "his Mom tries all the time, but he gives her the gnarly face and closes his mouth. But she keeps trying!" Then he had to tell the Vet that my brat of a Sister, Ciena... LOVES to have her teeth brushed and she even has a dog tooth-brush of her own! She is such a show-off that it's not funny!!!!!!

Now the worst part of this visit is when they weighed me, because I am now 10 to 15 pounds over weight! OH CRAP, HERE COMES THE DIET AGAIN!!!!!  You see about two years ago, Mom and Dad put me on a special diet food that they got from the Vet cause I was 20 pounds over weight and I slimmed down to a trim 84 pounds. Then I guess when Mom bumped up my food quantity to maintain my weight, along with the treats and the constant begging at the table, I GOT FAT AGAIN! SO HERE WE GO, I THINK I AM GOING CRY AND ACTUALLY I AM WHINNING ALOT MORE NOW THAT I AM BACK ON MY DIET!!!!

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!!

See the source image

Hey Guys!!🐾

HERE'S OUR PRINCESS..... CIENA!!!!!!!!

Hey gals, today is International Women's Day! So, its time to celebrate us women all around the world for our cultural, historical and political achievements. Oh.....and for our cute doggie poses too!!! Mom said that we should "strike a pose" with our hands, oops I mean our paws out to signify the balance between women and men. She said that we should wear purple today to show our support. Ya think we look good? I think so, but Chewy had to get into the act too!!! Oh well, just so he doesn't feel left out, there is an annual celebration for men, its called International Men's Day which is celebrated every year on November 19!

So just a little history about today.....the first International Women's Day was celebrated here in 1908, wow... that was a long time ago, when 15,0000 women marched on the streets of New York to demand their rights? Ever since then, March 8, has been celebrated around many parts of the world to support, inspire, and motivate women. To be honest, I am inspired by that famous female dog, Lady, in "Lady and the Tramp"!! Oh and before I forget, mom said that you can spread the awareness of today by using the hashtag #BalanceforBetter on social media if you want. Ok we're tired now.... so I think we'll just take a little nap, but you all enjoy the day!!!

As Chewy would say, till next time, it's paws up and high five!!!

Women's History Month By Ciena

Hey Guys!!! 🐾

Today, I give the floor to my sister, Ciena to speak on behalf of all women!

Hi..... I'm Ciena! My mom and I wanted to share with you the news that the month of March is Women's History Month. I have to admit, it was my mom who wrote the story below, but I helped with her edits! I even put on a pretty dress, because all of us women should feel pretty and proud too!
(P.S. All you guys out there should be proud also, of all the men that made our country great...….. it's just that March is our month to shine!!)

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
{Sources: Wikipedia, www.nwhp.org}

"March is Women’s History Month. It’s a month dedicated to honoring women for their contributions to society. The origins of Women’s History Month can be traced back to the late 1970’s, when women realized the K-12 curriculum lacked the education of women’s history and needed to be addressed. This prompted a week-long celebration of women’s history the week of March 8, by a school district in Sonoma, California in 1978. The event was planned around International Women’s Day, March 8, which honors the movement for women’s rights.
In 1979, in recognition of this event, the Smithsonian Institute, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Women’s Action Alliance held a conference regarding women’s history. The outcome was an agreement to support the effort to create a National Women’s History Week. Subsequently in February 1980, President Jimmy Carter proclaimed March 8, as National Women’s History Week. The following year, Senator Orrin Hatch and Representative Barbara Mikulski co-sponsored a joint resolution declaring Women’s History Week beginning March 7, 1982.
Congress continued passing joint resolutions designating a week in March as Women’s History Week. By 1986, 14 states declared the month of March as Women’s History Month. This state-by-state action provide the justification used by the National Women’s History Project to successfully lobby Congress to designate the month of March as Women’s History Month in 1987. Since 1988, U.S. presidents have issued annual proclamations designating the month of March as Women’s History Month to honor the achievements of American women.
Women have played a pivotal role throughout our history. A few notable examples include: Susan B. Anthony who paved the way for the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, to Amelia Earhart who inspired women aviators with her cross Atlantic flight, to Eleanor Roosevelt known as the “First Lady of the World” for her human rights achievements, to Rosa Parks referred to as “the first lady of civil rights”, to “Rosie the Riveter” representing women who worked in the factories during World War II, to  Dr. Sally Ride, the first and youngest American woman in space to orbit the earth, and the list goes on and on. Our heritage is our pride!"

                                        YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!
Till next time, it's paw up and high five!!!

For The Love of Dogs Dedicated to Emma

Hey Guys!🐾

This blog is dedicated today to a seven year old little girl named Emma, who has a rare brain tumor and asked for love letters from dogs for comfort. You can help by reading her touching story at:

So, today my story is about when we moved into our new house. In the beginning when we first move in, I was afraid to go to bed by myself. So my dad bought my mom a plaque for Christmas with a really nice prayer on it and she reads it to me and Ciena to alot! The prayer is as follows:

 "A Dog's Bedtime Prayer"
(Author Unknown)

Now I lay me down to sleep
The king-size bed is soft and deep
I sleep right in the center groove
The people here can hardly move
I've trapped their legs
They're tucked in tight....
And here is where I spend the night.

No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and I want food...
I sneak up slowly to begin
And lick a nose or a bit of chin
For morning's here, it's time to play
I know the food is on its way.

Thank you, Lord for giving me
These wonderful people that I see...
The ones who hug and hold me tight
And share the bed with me at night.

I hope you like the prayer, but as you can see I still like to take my dog buddy, Spike, to bed with me!
As always, it's paws up and high five!!!
