Hey Guys!!! đŸ
Today, I give the floor to my sister, Ciena to speak on behalf of all women!
Hi..... I'm Ciena! My mom and I wanted to share with you the news that the month of March is Women's History Month. I have to admit, it was my mom who wrote the story below, but I helped with her edits! I even put on a pretty dress, because all of us women should feel pretty and proud too!
(P.S. All you guys out there should be proud also, of all the men that made our country great...âŠ.. it's just that March is our month to shine!!)
WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

"March is Womenâs History Month. Itâs a month
dedicated to honoring women for their contributions to society. The origins of
Womenâs History Month can be traced back to the late 1970âs, when women realized the K-12
curriculum lacked the education of womenâs history and needed to be addressed.
This prompted a week-long celebration of womenâs history the week of March 8,
by a school district in Sonoma, California in 1978. The event was planned
around International Womenâs Day, March 8, which honors the movement for
womenâs rights.
In
1979, in recognition of this event, the Smithsonian Institute, Sarah Lawrence
College, and the Womenâs Action Alliance held a conference regarding womenâs
history. The outcome was an agreement to support the effort to create a
National Womenâs History Week. Subsequently in February 1980, President Jimmy Carter proclaimed
March 8, as National Womenâs History Week. The following year, Senator
Orrin Hatch and Representative Barbara Mikulski co-sponsored a joint resolution
declaring Womenâs History Week beginning March 7, 1982.
Congress continued passing joint resolutions
designating a week in March as Womenâs History Week. By 1986, 14 states declared
the month of March as Womenâs History Month. This state-by-state action provide
the justification used by the National Womenâs History Project to successfully
lobby Congress to designate the month of March as Womenâs History Month in 1987.
Since 1988, U.S. presidents have issued annual proclamations designating the
month of March as Womenâs History Month to honor the achievements of American
women.
Women
have played a pivotal role throughout our history. A few notable examples include: Susan B. Anthony who
paved the way for the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote,
to Amelia Earhart who inspired women aviators with her cross Atlantic flight,
to Eleanor Roosevelt known as the âFirst Lady of the Worldâ for her human
rights achievements, to Rosa Parks referred to as âthe first lady of civil
rightsâ, to âRosie the Riveterâ representing women who worked in the factories
during World War II, to Dr. Sally Ride,
the first and youngest American woman in space to orbit the earth, and the list
goes on and on. Our heritage is our pride!"
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!
Till next time, it's paw up and high five!!!
CHEWY MAN đ
