PLEASE SAVE THESE DOGS FROM EUTHANASIA: YOKO, DOZER, ROSY AND HAZEL

CALLING ALL DOG RESCUES!

THIS IS A DISGRACE.

(YOKO, DOZER, ROSY AND HAZEL) ARE AT RISK OF EUTHANASIA.

FRIENDS OF NORTHERN OCEAN COUNTY ANIMAL FACILITY'S FACEBOOK PAGE.  Friends of Northern Ocean County Animal Facility | Facebook STATES TODAY:

"WE ARE EXHAUSTED FROM BEGGING FOR HELP FOR THESE FOUR PUPS. MOST RESCUES DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO ANSWER US. RESCUE URGENTLY NEEDED....SHELTER HAS NO MORE ROOM, NOTHING MORE TO SAY."

SHELTER DESCRIPTIONS BELOW:

- YOKO, 18 MONTHS, A HUSKY, SHEPHERD, PIT MIX. YOKO STORY IS SAD AS HE WAS RESCUED LAST SUMMER AND ADOPTED OUT TO A FAMILY WITH SMALL CHILDREN. THE ADOPTERS HAD GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT YOKO, BUT THEY FELT THAT HE WAS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR THEM. THEY CONTACTED YOKO'S RESCUE AND THEY WERE TOLD BY THE RESCUE TO RETURN HIM TO THE SHELTER. HE IS STILL AT NORTHERN OCEAN COUNTY ANIMAL FACILITY. THE SHELTER STATES THAT YOKO IS "SWEET, AFFECTIONATE, LOVES TO PLAY, LISTENS WELL, EASY TO HANDLE, DOG FRIENDLY, GOOD WITH OLDER CHILDREN, NEUTERED, UTD ON SHOTS, HEARTWORM NEGATIVE. HE NEEDS RESCUE FOR FOOD GUARDING, BUT HAS PASSED ALL OTHER TESTS."

- DOZER, 8 MONTHS, PITTIE MIX, PASSED ALL TEMPERAMENT TESTS, MUST BE ONLY PET.

- ROSY, 2 YEARS OLD, PITTIE MIX, GUARDS FOOD

- HAZEL, 12 MONTHS, PITTIE MIX, PASSED ALL TEMPERAMENT TESTS, VERY NERVOUS.

I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS SHELTER'S MANY REQUESTS FOR HELP FOR THESE DOGS HAVE GONE UNANSWERED! SO WHAT DOES THE TERM RESCUE REALLY MEAN???? PLEASE HAVE A HEART AND HELP THEM!

IS IT THE DOGS OR THE LACK OF COMPASSION BY THESE FACILITIES AND WORKERS WHO GET PAID WHETHER THE DOGS ARE ADOPTED OR NOT.

TOO MUCH BAD PRESS FOR THIS FACILITY OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.

PERHAPS INSTEAD OF TURNING PEOPLE AWAY BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A YARD OR BECAUSE THEY DON'T THINK THE PET WILL GET ALONG WITH  ANOTHER PET THE PERSON ALREADY HAS SHOULD BE THE DECISION OF THE PERSON LOOKING TO ADOPT.

BETTER TO GIVE THE DOG A SHOT WITH A PERSON THAN A SHOT TO EUTHANIZE

INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHT DAY

HI GUYS, ๐Ÿพ

TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY AND MY MOM ASKED ME IF IT WAS ALRIGHT TO POST HER ARTICLE THAT SHE WROTE FOR THIS DAY. I TOLD HER THAT I AM HAPPY SHE WROTE THIS PIECE, AS ALL OF US ANIMALS DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH KINDNESS AND LOVE. SO HERE IT IS.....YOU GO MOM!

DECEMBER 10TH – INTERATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY

Saturday December 10th is International Animal Rights Day. This holiday is shared with Human Rights Day, as animals have the same right to be treated with respect, and acts of cruelty are just as wrong against them as it is humans. Animals have been mistreated and killed for hundreds of years for various reasons, whether for food, fashion, research, or the idea that it is out of necessity.

The history of International Animal Rights Day is linked with Human Rights Day, which was started on December 10, 1948, when the United Nations passed the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. This was created because of the war crimes perpetuated against innocent human beings in the concentration camps in Nazi Germany during World War II. Afterwards, individuals, organizations, and associations, began demanding that this declaration of December 10th, should also apply to the animal kingdom as a way of advocating the rights of animals who cannot defend themselves.

By 1970, these rights were coined as “speciesism” as a way of promoting and encouraging a dialogue on the discrimination against animals. But it wasn’t until 1998, that an official statement was passed for animal rights. An animal protection organization by the name of “Uncaged” created International Animal Right Day to bring to our attention all types of violence against animals. Their belief is that animals cannot vote, protest, or advocate for their own protection, therefore it is our responsibility to do it for them. As a result, International Animal Rights Day is recognized each year on December 10th, the same day as Human Rights Day. So, please remember as humans we have rights, but so do all the animals that we share our world with and there are no justifications for animal abuse or exploitation. (By: SQ)

DECEMBER 1ST - 24TH IS OPERATION SANTA PAWS!

HI GUYS, ๐Ÿพ

MY MOM ASKED ME IF I WOULD SHARE HER STORY THAT SHE WROTE FOR OUR LOCAL PAPER FOR THEIR DECEMBER ISSUE. PLEASE KEEP IN YOUR HEARTS ALL THOSE ANIMALS THAT DO NOT HAVE A LOVING HOME THIS HOLIDAY.

Operation Santa Paws December 1st - 24th

[Source: https://nationaltoday.com/operation-santa-paws/]

"The holidays are a time for giving as we celebrate it with our family and friends. But let’s not forget our furry friends in the shelters and rescue centers. Operation Santa Paws, which is held from December 1st to the 24th each year, gives us the opportunity share the gift of giving and show our love for the shelter pets. Justin Rudd, who was inspired by his love for animals, started Operation Santa Paws in 2001. It began in Long Beach California but has since spread across our country and other countries and cities such as Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. His intention was to call upon all animal lovers to donate food, blankets, treats, toys, supplies and money, to help stock the shelters with much needed items. But more importantly it shows our love and compassion for those animals who do not have an opportunity to be loved or cared for, especially during the holiday season.

Sadly, statistics show that roughly 7.6 million companion animals such as cats, dogs and other domestic pets enter the shelters across our country each year. It is heartbreaking to know that these animals are there through no fault of their own. Many of them are either neglected, abused, or abandoned and though many are adopted, several will live out their lives in cages. But all deserve a loving forever home. Pets can play an important role in our lives, they give us unconditional love, they are our companions through good times and bad, and they can have an important role as a therapy/service animal. Pets are our family, and they leave an indelible mark on our hearts.

During Operation Santa Paws this December let’s give back to those less fortunate pets. We can start by donating needed supplies or money to our local shelters and rescues organizations. Organize a donation drive as many shelters post their wish list on their websites. You can donate your time by volunteering at a local shelter as they are often understaffed. Or you can foster or adopt, giving that pet a much-needed home. This is the season of giving, so please open your hearts and give to the pets in our shelter and rescues. Remember, “The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man” ~ Charles Darwin. Happy holidays!"

FEBRUARY 20TH IS LOVE YOUR PET DAY!

HEY GUYS! ๐Ÿพ

Today is "Love Your Pet Day"..... yeah!!! To celebrate, my Mom says that you should go out and get your furry friend, a new toy, or special treat, or just stop what you are doing and spend some time playing with them! When my Mom listens to music and she hears one of her crazy favorite songs, she sings and dances with us! I bet she'll do that today, not to mention maybe a special treat? Get the hint...Mom! Anyways my Mom wrote this poem in honor of this wonderful day for me and Ciena.

DOGGIE PLAY TIME

My love for my dogs is beyond measure,
For you see these two are truly my treasure.

They love and comfort me day in and day out,
I would be lost without them for there is no doubt.

Their crazy ways make me grin,
It’s time for fun when their antics begin.

Bring on the music they seem to say,
For you know it’s time for all of us to play.

They love to dance with me as they wiggle their butts,
I am grateful that these two silly dogs are really my mutts!

And sometimes we roll around and wrestle on the floor,
Now who could ask for anything more.

And when we are tired and when we stop,
It’s only because we are ready to drop.

I cherish each moment when we have time to play,
For such fun as this should happen every day.

You see each day is a blessing from above,
For my dogs lift my spirits every day with their love.

So have a great day with those who love you and remember till next time, it's paws up and high five!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CIENA GIRL!!!!!!!!

HEY GUYS!๐Ÿพ

Today is my little sister, Ciena's, birthday and she is six years old. I bet you couldn't tell by her picture....Ha!

In celebration of her birthday, Mom and Dad gave us a special treat "Frosty Paws" and sang happy birthday to the girl!!!!!

Even though I made that goofy face to make her laugh, it didn't work. She said she doesn't want people to know that she's an old lady and I said that she's just fine! Oh well, she'll get over it, cause she is beautiful and my baby sister! Anyways.... a good time was had by all!!!

Till next time, it's paws up and high five!!!!

My Holiday Wish Is.........

HEY GUYS!๐Ÿพ

Long time no talk to you! Me and Ciena had a great summer and we hope that you did too!

I know that the Holidays are just upon us, but I want to tell you that today is National Mutt Day, also know as National Mixed Breed Dog Day. You probably don't know this, but 80% of my fellow canine companions in the shelters are mixed breeds. So many of them need a forever home, but sadly so many of them never see one. So my Christmas wish is for shelter pets everywhere to have a loving home like me and Ciena have!

Please read my Mom's poem in honor of this day, as it is a plea for ALL shelter dogs to have a forever home.

For The Love of a Shelter Dog

I am a shelter dog who watches you walk by,
I wag my tail and hope that you will give me a try.

You see, I am not a bad dog who deserved to be left here,

Unfortunately, it is just that no one wanted me near.
I may be young, or I may be old,
I may be shy, or I may be bold.
I may have been neglected or hurt in some way,
But I carry no grudge for I live in the moment each day.
I feel as though I have been here for so long,
Please take me to your home, for with you I belong.
I promise to guard you and keep you safe,
If only you would have a little faith.
I will work to be good and love you so much,
For I truly need your gentle touch.
Please don’t walk away and leave me behind,
Adopt me today for it would truly be kind.

So maybe you could visit your local shelter this month and find your perfect companion. If you are unable to adopt, you can donate your time at a shelter, or provide food, supplies or financial support (every dollar helps)!

Till next time it's paws up and please remember my shelter friends.

August 26 - NATIONAL DOG DAY - IT'S ALL IN A STORY!

HEY GUYS!๐Ÿพ

Today is National Dog Day! Here is a great article that my mom wrote for her community newspaper in our honor for today. I hope that you like it, cause me and Ciena do!
As a pet parent of two beloved dogs, I am writing this month about National Dog Day, which is celebrated on August 26, each year. This special day was created by the National Dog Day Foundation to celebrate our canine companions, and to rescue dogs from abuse and homelessness. President George W. Bush, a dog owner himself, sent a letter to the foundation in support of National Dog Day and its goals. The foundation’s motto is, "Saving 10,000 Dogs - One Day at a Time".

Not only do our dogs provide us with love and companionship, but they also play an important role as service and/or therapy dogs. Trained dogs guide and assist people who have visual and hearing impairments. They aid physically disabled individuals who have mobility issues. Some dogs are trained to be medical response dogs for those with serious health conditions, such as epilepsy, diabetes or heart arrhythmias. Further, research studies prove that dogs can provide invaluable emotional support and companionship for children with autism, actually helping them with social interactions and relationships. Other dogs are be trained for life-saving search-and-rescue work, or for detection of bombs, firearms, or drugs.

Our pets here in our community may not be service or therapy dogs, but I believe that they are an important part our life. Dogs improve our mental health by reducing our stress when we stroke them and play with them; they keep us fit when we go for walks; and they provide us with a sense of security. Dogs are not judgmental-- they love us unconditionally. Their crazy antics can make us laugh and raise our spirits. I chuckle when I think of my two large dogs taking over our bed forcing us to sleep on the edge all night. I wouldn’t trade them for the world, for they bring joy to my life.

I wish all dogs could have a forever-home where they are safe and loved-- no dog should ever be homeless or abused. Let’s celebrate our loving, faithful companions on this special holiday. Let’s hope that others will be inspired to open our hearts and homes to help an abandoned dog, for so many are in need.

PET APPRECIATION WEEK JUNE 2nd - 8th

HEY GUYS! ๐Ÿพ

This week is pet appreciation week and it's time to celebrate!! I have found some fun ways that Mom and Dad can show their love and appreciation for us, besides all their hugs and kisses they give us!

- Treat us to our favorite dessert like "Frosty Paws".....Yum!!!!
- Take us for a car ride to the beach or anywhere....even if it means drool and hair all over your car!
- You can always buy us a new toy, of course it has to be one that we can't destroy!
- Put some of our special cookies or "Pup-Peroni's"on top of our dinner, boy do we like them!
- Take some more of those great pictures of us, you know how much we love to pose, especially when you dress us up, HA!!!

Please remember that all pets are God's creatures to be loved and cared for and all pets should have a wonderful forever home!

Just don't forget that me and Ciena will always keep you active and you never need to feel lonely or sad cause we just keep loving you!!!

Love you Mom and Dad!!

THEY PUT ME ON A DIET AGAIN!!!!!

       HEY GUYS!๐Ÿพ

My Dad took me to my Vet's office this past Monday for my annual check-up, my shots and my heartworm blood work (ouch)!!! The Vet also checked the lump on my side (they aspirated it last year and tested it and thank God it was not cancerous), but he keeps an eye on it. He told my Dad that it was ok, just fat! Then he checked a new bump that just popped up on my nose and he wasn't concerned, but said to my Dad to watch it because if it gets too big they can do surgery and remove it. Then he had the nerve to tell my Dad that us Labs get weird bumps all the time and they are not usually harmful! The Vet said that I would have to go to sleep for the procedure and they could clean my teeth at the same time because they need it! OMG!!!! The Vet told my Dad that my teeth should be brushed and Dad replied "his Mom tries all the time, but he gives her the gnarly face and closes his mouth. But she keeps trying!" Then he had to tell the Vet that my brat of a Sister, Ciena... LOVES to have her teeth brushed and she even has a dog tooth-brush of her own! She is such a show-off that it's not funny!!!!!!

Now the worst part of this visit is when they weighed me, because I am now 10 to 15 pounds over weight! OH CRAP, HERE COMES THE DIET AGAIN!!!!!  You see about two years ago, Mom and Dad put me on a special diet food that they got from the Vet cause I was 20 pounds over weight and I slimmed down to a trim 84 pounds. Then I guess when Mom bumped up my food quantity to maintain my weight, along with the treats and the constant begging at the table, I GOT FAT AGAIN! SO HERE WE GO, I THINK I AM GOING CRY AND ACTUALLY I AM WHINNING ALOT MORE NOW THAT I AM BACK ON MY DIET!!!!

May is National Pet Month!

HEY GUYS!๐Ÿพ

Long time no write to! You see I have been busy sleeping, eating and playing with my sister, Ciena, I like to chase her around a lot ha ha!. Oh...….what a dog's life!!!  I wanted to let you know that May is NATIONAL PET MONTH, yeah! It is a month to celebrate the wonderful benefits that we bring to your lives and vice versa. The goal of NATIONAL PET MONTH is to support pet adoption, promote all the benefits of pet ownership and to let you know about all the great service professionals that work with us like all the rescue groups, veterinarians, groomers and many others!!! But most importantly it is a month to recognize the value and contributions that we make to society as hard working companion animals! I think that the love for all of us pets, whether we are dogs, cats, or whatever should be celebrated year round!

I truly love my sister, Ciena!

Till next time, it's paws up and high five!
 Happy National Pet Month

April 22, 2019 - Earth Day

Hey Guys!๐Ÿพ

Happy Earth Day๐ŸŒŽ!! This event was first celebrated on this day in 1970. At that time, my mom was a young "pup" in high school. She said that she remembers that day like yesterday! The weather was perfect for that April day for it was warm and sunny. She said that the whole school walked out after lunch and sat on the football field to show their support for Earth Day! (P.S. no one got in trouble for this either!) Here is a little background information regarding Earth Day that mom found on the Wikipedia Website:

"Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The first Earth Day celebrations took place in two thousand colleges and universities, roughly ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across the United States. More importantly, it "brought 20 million Americans out into the spring sunshine
for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform."

Mom may be an old "pup" now, but she says that she will always fondly remember that day! Sometimes I think that she wishes she could go back to that time period for look how she dressed us up!!!! Gotta have that hippie look going with the beads...…..just missing the jackets and/or vests with the fringe and the head bands, LOL!

Till next time, it's paws up and high five!!!
