FOR THE LOVE OF SHELTER DOGS
HI GUYS, πΎ
THE HOLIDAYS ARE ALMOST UPON US AND THERE ARE SO MANY UNFORTUNATE ANIMALS THAT ARE IN OUR SHELTERS THAT DON'T DESERVE TO BE THERE. PLEASE FOSTER, ADOPT, OR VOLUNTEER IF CAN. BRING YOUR COMPANION HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, YOU WILL BE SAVING A LIFE.
MY MOM ASKED IF SHE COULD SHARE HER POEM THAT SHE WROTE FOR HER LOVE OF ALL DOGS. I TOLD HER TO SPREAD THE WORD!
For The Love of a Shelter Dog
By: SQ
I am a shelter dog who watches you walk by,
I wag my tail and hope that you will give me a try.
You see, I am not a bad dog who deserved to be left here,
Unfortunately, it is just that no one wanted me near.
I may be young, or I may be old,
I may be shy, or I may be bold.
I may have been neglected or hurt in some way,
But I carry no grudge for I live in the moment each day.
I feel as though I have been here for so long,
Please take me to your home, for with you I belong.
I promise to guard you and keep you safe,
If only you would have a little faith.
I will work to be good and love you so much,
For I truly need your gentle touch.
Please don’t walk away and leave me behind,
Adopt me today for it would truly be kind.
TILL NEXT TIME, IT'S PAWS UP AND HIGH FIVE!

INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHT DAY
HI GUYS, πΎ
TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY AND MY MOM ASKED ME IF IT WAS ALRIGHT TO POST HER ARTICLE THAT SHE WROTE FOR THIS DAY. I TOLD HER THAT I AM HAPPY SHE WROTE THIS PIECE, AS ALL OF US ANIMALS DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH KINDNESS AND LOVE. SO HERE IT IS.....YOU GO MOM!
DECEMBER 10TH
– INTERATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY
Saturday December 10th is
International Animal Rights Day. This holiday is shared with Human Rights Day,
as animals have the same right to be treated with respect, and acts of cruelty
are just as wrong against them as it is humans. Animals have been mistreated
and killed for hundreds of years for various reasons, whether for food, fashion,
research, or the idea that it is out of necessity.
The history of International Animal Rights
Day is linked with Human Rights Day, which was started on December 10, 1948, when
the United Nations passed the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. This was
created because of the war crimes perpetuated against innocent human beings in
the concentration camps in Nazi Germany during World War II. Afterwards,
individuals, organizations, and associations, began demanding that this
declaration of December 10th, should also apply to the animal kingdom
as a way of advocating the rights of animals who cannot defend themselves.
By
1970, these rights were coined as “speciesism” as a way of promoting and
encouraging a dialogue on the discrimination against animals. But it wasn’t until
1998, that an official statement was passed for animal rights. An animal
protection organization by the name of “Uncaged” created International Animal
Right Day to bring to our attention all types of violence against animals. Their
belief is that animals cannot vote, protest, or advocate for their own
protection, therefore it is our responsibility to do it for them. As a result, International
Animal Rights Day is recognized each year on December 10th, the same
day as Human Rights Day. So, please remember as humans we have rights, but so
do all the animals that we share our world with and there are no justifications
for animal abuse or exploitation. (By: SQ)

DECEMBER 1ST - 24TH IS OPERATION SANTA PAWS!
Operation Santa Paws December 1st - 24th
[Source: https://nationaltoday.com/operation-santa-paws/]
"The holidays are a time for giving as we celebrate it
with our family and friends. But let’s not forget our furry friends in the shelters
and rescue centers. Operation Santa Paws, which is held from December 1st
to the 24th each year, gives us the opportunity share the gift of
giving and show our love for the shelter pets. Justin Rudd, who was inspired by
his love for animals, started Operation Santa Paws in 2001. It began in Long Beach
California but has since spread across our country and other countries and
cities such as Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. His intention was to call upon
all animal lovers to donate food, blankets, treats, toys, supplies and money, to
help stock the shelters with much needed items. But more importantly it shows
our love and compassion for those animals who do not have an opportunity to be
loved or cared for, especially during the holiday season.
Sadly, statistics show that roughly 7.6 million
companion animals such as cats, dogs and other domestic pets enter the shelters
across our country each year. It is heartbreaking to know that these animals are
there through no fault of their own. Many of them are either neglected, abused,
or abandoned and though many are adopted, several will live out their lives in
cages. But all deserve a loving forever home. Pets can play an important role
in our lives, they give us unconditional love, they are our companions through good
times and bad, and they can have an important role as a therapy/service animal.
Pets are our family, and they leave an indelible mark on our hearts.
During Operation Santa Paws this December let’s give back to those less fortunate pets. We can start by donating needed supplies or money to our local shelters and rescues organizations. Organize a donation drive as many shelters post their wish list on their websites. You can donate your time by volunteering at a local shelter as they are often understaffed. Or you can foster or adopt, giving that pet a much-needed home. This is the season of giving, so please open your hearts and give to the pets in our shelter and rescues. Remember, “The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man” ~ Charles Darwin. Happy holidays!"
