CELEBRATE NATIONAL DOG DAY & CLEAR OUR SHELTERS!

HEY GUYS! 🐾

NOT ONLY IS TODAY "CLEAR THE SHELTERS", BUT IT IS ALSO NATIONAL DOG DAY! SO MY MOM WROTE THIS ARTICLE IN HONOR OF NATIONAL DOG DAY. WE HOPE THAT YOU ENJOY IT!

                                                     NATIONAL DOG DAY

As a pet parent of two beloved dogs, I am writing about National Dog Day, which is celebrated on August 26, each year. This day honors our canine companions and promotes the rescue of dogs from abuse and homelessness. “National Dog Day was created by the National Dog Day Foundation. Their motto is "Saving 10,000 Dogs - One Day at a Time". President George W. Bush, a dog owner himself, sent a letter to the foundation in support of National Dog Day.”

Not only do our dogs provide us with love and companionship, but they also play an important role as service and/or therapy dogs. Trained dogs lead the blind, the visually impaired and assist the deaf and hard of hearing. They aid physically disabled individuals who have mobility issues. Some dogs are trained to be medical response dogs in aiding individuals with medical constraints such as epilepsy or diabetic conditions. Research shows that dogs are beneficial as constant companions to children with autism for they help the child in building relationships and with interactions. Other dogs are be trained for search and rescue or to seek out bombs and drugs.

Our dogs may not be service/therapy dogs, but I believe that they are an important part of our life. Dogs improve our mental health by reducing our stress when we stroke them, they keep us fit when we go for walks, and they provide us with a sense of security. They are not judgmental, and they give us unconditional love. Their crazy antics can make us laugh and raise our spirits. I chuckle when I think of my two large dogs taking over our bed, forcing us to sleep on the edge all night. I wouldn’t trade them for the world for they bring joy to my life. I wish all dogs could have a forever home where they are safe and loved, no dog should ever be homeless or abused. Let’s honor our loving companions on this day and maybe we can open our hearts and homes to help an abandoned dog, for so many are in need.

PLEASE ADOPT, RESCUE, FOSTER, AND CLEAR OUR SHELTERS!
